Photo studio “LIGHT” in the boarding school 24
Everybody
needs light; especially children need light of love,
care and hope. But there are children who are deprived
of light of love, children growing up without parents’
care and support. They know little about the world,
about relationships between people. These children
get problems at school and nobody notices the special
talents and abilities in them.
Of
course, the state takes care of abandoned children,
they are taught, fed, clothed and treated. But no
one seems interested in their persons’ individual
traits and needs. Without the sincere interest these
children gradually cease to believe in themselves
and begin to hate life.
We can help these children, we can bring light into
their lives, just like Maria Kondratieva –
the head of the photo studio “Light”
in the boarding school number 24 (Moscow, Russia)
In the studio “Light” teenagers study
photography. Alexander Gudkov, the eldest in the
group, is a portrait painter. He makes amazing black-and-white
psychological portraits. Lida Goreva has shaped
her photo ideas like a mist, reflections of light.
Ksenia Zhukova loves to shoot the horses. Vacia
Mordacov wants to be a master of shooting scenery.
Maria Kondratieva not just teaches kids photography
- she teaches them to look and understand the world,
helping kids find the place in this world. Children
learn do not give up. They think about the future
and are looking for answers to serious questions.
Maria Kondratieva explains, "All the guys have
learned to take pictures in six months, learned
a lot about the features of photography in various
settings. But most important, they learned that
they themselves can build the world around. I amazed
by their intuitive, inner creativity. Now we dream
about our first photo exhibition. It is so important
for kids to show others their photos and to meet
with some creative people. Moreover, we have something
to show. Many teenagers find interesting topics;
create themselves photo projects, reflected in their
photographs dynamic and joyful moments of their
life.”
They need a room and the staff for photo exhibitions.
It's so little and so much! They do not have parents
who help them and praise. And they need to see the
response in the hearts of people to their feelings
and thoughts.
Alexander Gudkov in his photo story "Acrobatics"
reveals the very subtle state of children who find
themselves in a difficult situation. They, like
acrobats, standing on the one hand, trying to keep
their children's efforts to internal balance, so
as not to fall, not to lose their childhood.
But they do need your support! They are looking
for caring people who will pay attention to their
amazing photo projects, praise them, or perhaps
even criticize, but do not pass by.
