Fragments from the book "600 CREATIVE GAMES"
EARTH - THE UNIVERSE THE EARTH IS OUR HOUSE
ECOLOGY OF OUR HOUSE
Ask children to write down everything that, to their opinion, is necessary and important for normal lives in their houses. For example: warmth, cleanliness, cosiness, a tasty meal, pure water, the fresh air, a comfortable bed, etc. After children carry out this task, ask them to make the general list of the most necessary and important aspects for life in a home or ask them to answer questions:
What would have happened IF
the water will be (freely available) in your house only once a month;
if there was no electricity in your house
if there were nobody responsible for cleanliness of streets (and nobody really cleaned them regularly)
Do you think that all above-mentioned could happen in reality?
What should people do to avoid this from happening?
How should people be concerned about ecological resources of their country?
Write down the most important thoughts of children on the class-board. Name it "Our thoughts about ecology."
MAKE THE EARTH CLEANER
Ask children to imagine that they are inhabitants of forests, gardens, oceans, rivers, lakes, fields etc. Ask them to name all what is (in their opinion) necessary for normal and healthy life in the place of their habitat. For example inhabitants of the forests need clean air, clean flowing water, forbiddance for hunting, taking care for the sick animals, sick trees, birds etc.
Then compile the main list of necessary conditions for normal and healthy life in different places. And ask children what should be done to improve life around them. All thoughts of children should be written down and then choose the best ideas and make a special “list” of “strategy for the better ecology.”
CARING HANDS
Ask children to name the professions that require sensitive-kind hands (doctor, teacher, watch-master, gardener, baker, vet etc.)
Write them down. Then ask children to make up their own stories about "how the kind hands of a person helped in that profession."
HOW THE PERSISTENCE CAN HELP?
Divide the children into small groups and give them cards with pictures of different inhabitants of the forest. Ask them to make up the stories about “How persistence and perseverance helped the animals in their lives. For example: persistence and perseverance helped the squirrels to collect and save the food for the winter; for ants – to build their ant-house; for bees – to collect the honey; for birds – to heal the tree etc.
SUN'S GENEROUS GIFTS
On the blackboard draw a big sun with many beams. Then ask children to name what sun, by the Will of Almighty, can give to the earth (benefits): e.g. warmth, light, energy, life, beauty, possibility to grow (harvest) etc. Benefits named by children should be written down in the sun's beams. Then children should draw in their notebooks the sun of their soul (heart).
In the beams of that heart they should write all that they can give to the others (kindness, love, understanding, care, protection, help, gifts etc.)
THE LAWS OF BEING CAREFUL
Ask children to tell (the real stories from their lives) about well-preserved things (that had been taken care of) e.g. old books, old chairs etc.
Then divide children into the groups. One group should mention (count) all benefits of the life of a new thing, while the other group should mention all the benefits of the old thing, which was so useful for many years and was well-preserved.
Ask children to make up “their own special regulation of perseverance (carefulness). E.g. to clean the shoes everyday, to put all things on their place, not to leave the books open, not to throw their toys etc.
