NUMBER SIX

There was once a little girl
Whose dreams always came true.
One night she wanted some stars,
So up into the sky she flew.

She collected six sparkling beauties
And took them home to play.
But the stars missed the deep, dark sky
And quickly flew away.

That night, the girl dreamt of a circus . Numbers were performing instead of animals . They somersaulted, juggled and did magic tricks .

Suddenly, the ringmaster announced : ‘And now for the acrobats – a little girl and the Number Six!'

The girl went into the ring, and Number Six turned her upside down in one swift move .

‘Now you have to count all the animals in the big top , ' Number Six said.

‘How can I count when I'm standing on my head ? ' the girl asked angrily.

‘And how can I count to six, if you keep turning me into nine ? ' Number Six said, bursting into tears.

‘I'm sorry, I won't turn you upside down again . I'll tie six pretty ribbons on your tail so I don't confuse you with the number nine anymore,' the girl ...
